Rigby claimed the PM was “fighting a losing battle” as several world leaders have still not committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Sky viewers weren’t impressed when the reporter subsequently spoke over Boris Johnson during her interview as he attempted to explain his goals for the conference which starts on Sunday.
The reporter pressed Johnson on the odds of securing a deal with the world’s other largest polluters.
As the PM tried to explain, she cut across him: “50 percent? 60 percent? That’s quite optimistic.”
Her interview style prompted some angry remarks on social media, with some Twitter users claiming Rigby had been rude to the PM during the conversation.
Viewer Gary Mitchell tweeted: “Why does Beth Rigby think that she can behave so appallingly when interviewing a PM? So rude.
“She needs to watch a few Andrew Neil interviews to learn how to do it properly [sic].”

The PM eventually relented: “I’m worried that I might be, and I’m looking at what’s going on at the moment.”
Despite the backlash, several viewers argued Rigby had every right to interrupt her guest as he frequently sidestepped or refused to answer her questions.
One viewer with the username @RussRollo said: “Looks like Beth Rigby has got the measure of Johnson. Good on her.”
