If Angela survives, her relationship with Stabler looks set to become more fraught as she is now aware of Stabler’s feelings for Benson.
Wheatley pointed out Benson and Stabler’s unique bond during an interrogation in the finale, which is titled Forget it, Jake; it’s Chinatown.
McDermott’s character was seen toying with the detective as he revealed he knows Angela has feelings for him, but that Stabler will always care for Benson more than anyone else.
If Angela dies then Stabler will have an even harder time trying to make a case against Wheatley so a time jump could be used as a way to swiftly move past any delaying in the crime boss’s case.
Perhaps McDermott’s move from a regular cast member to guest star has forced the writers to move the plot along at a faster pace to properly wrap up his story arc.
Law and Order: Organized Crime is available to watch on NBC in the US, and on Sky Witness and Now TV in the UK.
