During the final day of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, the BBC showed coverage of the women’s boxing which saw Irish boxer Kellie Harrington and Team GB boxer Lauren Price both taking home gold medals. The broadcaster also showed the opening of the women’s omnium race. However, at the beginning of the race, a Lithuanian cyclist fell off her bike. Shortly after there was another collision between the competitors, which led to Team GB’s Laura Kenny crashing.
Lotte Kopecky of Team Belgium, Clara Copponi of Team France and Laura Kenny of Team Great Britain ended up colliding during the race.
“Oh, there’s a big crash,” the BBC commentator shouted.
“Lauran Kenny on the ground I think.”
“But the race is on now for the finish of this opening event,” he continued.
