Despite the quick-fire turnaround across the world, Schauffele feels he has done all he can to put himself in the best shape he can for this week, as he eyes his second World Golf Championship title.
The 2018 WGC-HSBC Champions winner commented: “A lot of what I did in recovery last week was to make sure I was fresh for this week. I’m going to be as fresh as I can and do everything I can to sleep enough, eat right, to make sure my mind is OK.”
Furthermore, Schauffele believes going into this week’s event as Olympic champion puts him in great stead to succeed in Memphis.
He added: “I think playing really well and having a gold medal is just feeding my energy. One, I’m really excited to get back home to the West Coast but two, you want to win each and every week and now that I finally have that taste of winning, and winning from upfront that’s why we all compete and the feeling we really chase.”
The Olympic gold medalist will begin his quest for back-to-back wins tomorrow, as he tees up with Justin Rose and Justin Thomas in the opening round at TPC Southwind.
